A journalist leaves her native country, a scene of love and grief, in search of a better future. On an Airbus, a dizzying uncertainty strikes her. Did she make the right choice? Digging deep in her memories she reflects on what she is leaving behind. As the evening unfolds, the Congo's odors, vapors and cacophony mingle, the new immigrant guides us through the streets and districts of the megalopolis that is Kinshasa, the 4th most populated city of Africa. Little by little, we encounter the creaturesof thispowerful capital, its youth competing in a fashion war, its street children and child soldiers, its Kombi drivers, this uniquepublic transport in which the population piles in,  searching for food...

les neiges

December 7th to 10th, 2017 @ 8PM
matinÉes — December 9th + 10th @ 1:30PM

L'UniThéâtre's community production
A play for adults, appropriate for teenagers
*Without surtitles — French only*

Starring several community members and theatre lovers.

Conceived almost 40 years ago, Michel Garneau's text, Les Neiges, still possesses a fanciful charm. Drifting snow, wind, dazzling frost, and the crackle of collapsing ice. Then a storm of words, white as winter. Words to express silence, solitude, and the cold. Les Neiges presents a poetic, poignant and amusing look at our chilliest yet most nostalgic season and what it often has to offer — in abundance.

"To be or not to be."  Six words that bring life to Tubby and Nottubby. Haunted by the breath of Shakespeare and bathed in the wonderful madness of comedy’s late greats Laurel and Hardy, this play brings the glorious return of our favourite clowns!

Tempus Extraordinarius is not the sequel to  Le Destin tragicomique de Tubby et Nottubby, but its fiery echo, where the fortuitous meeting of two vagrants, one night, on the docks of la Seine in Paris, allows the world to preserve a glimmer of humanity as everywhere extends a new era of terror.

Confronted to a world deprived of all freedom, condemned to survive, Tubby and Nottubby will be carried by the turbulent flows of History and Time, in an epic journey of their own selves.

Above the world’s barbarity and chaos, Tempus extraordinarius is a tribute to awe, to dreams, to hope, and to life.

***Tempus Extraordinarius is a bilingual production, 70% of its content being in French and 30% in English. The show is presented with bilingual surtitles.

Montreal, 1963. Geneviève, 12 years old, desires nothing more in the world than to become an altar boy, but there’s a problem: girls are not allowed to serve. She prays that God make an exception for her and he does. But not in the way she expected. It appears that being a servant of God is more complicated than it seems and that it involves many unforeseen obligations.

This play is presented in French (L'UniThéâtre) and in English (Northern Light Theatre) on an alternating basis. Visit Northern Light Theatre's website to buy tickets to an English performance.

If you attend an English performance and would like to see the play again in French, keep your ticket stub and present it at the box office before a French performance to receive a 50% discount!
