Great Notions in Small Rooms

Great Notions in Small Rooms

call for submissions

L’UniThéâtre has launched its newest initiative on the occasion of its 2016-2017 season:

Great Notions in Small Rooms (Grandes idées dans de petites salles) will provide a launching pad for new and innovative creators in our community.

This initiative is meant to inspire young and emerging actors/artists and is designed to promote alternative theatrical expression. Twice throughout our season, L’UniThéâtre will select creators from the community to participate in this project.

A full week in our theatre/studio will be given to the selected artists to create and explore in a laboratory setting. L’UniThéâtre will provide the selected artists with the theatre space, technician and available equipment, along with access to its props and costume inventory, to help the artist realize his/her theatrical experiment and/or innovation.

The criteria for selection will be based on the creativity and feasibility of individual submissions. Attention and priority will be given to unique theatrical explorations including hybrid and multi-disciplinary forms. The language of expression will be French but we also encourage physical theatre exploration that transcends conventional linguistic expression.

At this stage, we have already selected an artist to work on a project over the course of a week in January 2017, but we are still accepting submissions from artists who are interested in developing their project from June 27th to July 3rd, 2017.
