Moi, Monsieur, Moi! Is the story of a young Senegalese girl who, like many others, was shuttled from aunt, to cousin, to uncle. She served as the little maid, sweating profusely carrying heavy loads, sweeping the floor, cooking for the whole family, and washing the dirty linen. In addition to her many chores, she remained a poor student abused by many at school. Moi, Monsieur, Moi! Is also the story of how a girl, a young girl, becomes a woman in Africa!

Moi, Monsieur, Moi! is their history - the history of so many virtually living "puppets", circumcised by their mothers at the age of five. The story of how nine year olds suffered abuse by cousins, married off by parents at thirteen, "enslaved" by families at fifteen; and abused by caregivers, teachers, bosses, and employers, by the nameless and the named... at any age!

The endearing and provocative clown at the heart of Moi, Monsieur, Moi! gives flight to an authentic expression. Her big eyes and child-like smile transcend suffering and urges us toward genuine and worthy laughter.

"Moi, monsieur, moi!" Preview

A short documentary (French only) about the humanitarian initiatives of L'Association DJARAMA (Dakar, Senegal), which was founded in 2005 by Patricia Gomis (the star of "Moi, monsieur, moi!"). L'Association Djarama's goal is to promote access to culture. Patricia has established many important initiatives, such as the creation of a kindergarten school for impoverished children, a theatre centre for young audiences and the Festival Djaram'ART- a free street festival for homeless children. Amazing!
