 Originally from Legal, Alberta, Joëlle is an actress, director, writer, singer, dancer and educator, who has performed on stages across the country in both French and English. A graduate of Red Deer College’s Theatre Performance Program and the University of Alberta’s Bachelor of Fine Arts in Acting Program, Joëlle recently finished her Master of Fine Arts in Theatre Practice at this latter institution. Her Master’s thesis focuses on immersive plurilingual theatre and its role in encouraging additional language acquisition, especially within French Immersion and French as a Second Language programs.  Before becoming artistic director, Joëlle acted in several L’UniThéâtre plays such as  Des fraises en janvier  by Évelyne de la Chenelière and  Récolte , a play she wrote, which was produced during the 2013-2014 season in collaboration with Québec’s Théâtre Sortie de Secours. Joëlle wishes to continue to foster the growth of burgeoning playwrights and hopes to create occasions to reunite people of all ages and experiences who have a curiosity and passion for the theatre.

 Milane Pridmore-Franz is a bilingual francophone from Edmonton. Appointed L’UniThéâtre’s Administrative Director in June 2016, Milane’s various administrative experiences and her passion for language and culture make her a formidable addition to the company.  After completing a B.A. in French Language and Literature and German Language and Literature and obtaining certificates in Translation Studies for both of these languages from the University of Alberta in 2013, Milane pursued the completion of a M.A. degree in Translation Studies from the University of Alberta.  For several years, Milane has been providing and guiding the English surtitles for L’UniThéâtre’s productions. From 2014-2015, Milane conducted an important study on the Audience Reception of Theatre Surtitles in collaboration with L’UniThéâtre which was a key component towards the completion of her thesis.  An Associate Member of the Association of Translators and Interpreters of Alberta (ATIA) since 2013, Milane has also worked a number of years as a freelance translator, but has also fulfilled other roles such as being a French-language instructor.

 Franco-Albertan from birth and fan of L'UniThéâtre since childhood, Émanuel accepted the position of Projects, Communications, and Marketing Agent with enthusiasm in the Summer of 2017. Émanuel has been going on stage since 2006 to feed his constant hunger for theatre. Having particpated six years in a row in the Festival Théâtre Jeunesse de l'Alberta as a student and one year as a juror, he is very excited to be able to participate in the planning of the Festival. From 2015 to 2017 he studied Design at MacEwan University in Edmonton, and received a certificate in basic web coding from NAIT in 2016. Today, Émanuel juggles his role at L'UniThéâtre with his roles on stage in shows both French and English.
