Aalaapi | ᐋᓛᐱ – enriches our lives with a nuanced understanding of contemporary Inuit experience. Combining the aesthetics of theatre and radio, the project takes us to the North. The focus is on two women living in Nunavik; over a long arc, we watch their lives play out. A radio is the centrepiece in their domestic setting, and through it come the sounds of an audio documentary. We listen along with the women, and eventually the broadcast comes under scrutiny in a process informed by ethical and political concerns. Aalaapi has surtitles in English and French.

SIMON SOUCIS

In a distant kingdom, Simon, an apprentice inventor of ideas, has long been preparing to take over from his mentor Mo as the director of the Royal Imaginarium. During the official celebration of the gathering of directors of the Royal Assembly, Simon is under pressure to unveil his finest invention to the entire kingdom! After an unexpected incident in the Imaginarium, Simon faces several challenges before his big presentation. Throughout his quest, he meets other candidates for the Royal Assembly who face similar hardships. Together, Simon and his new friends learn how to manage their stress, their expectations of themselves and their personal strengths. This play, designed for students in kindergarten through grade 6, encourages audiences to engage with the themes of imagination, personal growth, and self-confidence.
