Le Criard

A L’UniThéâtre and Théâtre du Gros Mécano coproduction

Touring Alberta schools from March 29th to May 7th 2027
Public performance at Servus Credit Union Theatre on April 4th 2027

WRITTEN BY: Carol Cassistat

Florent is desperate—he can’t keep the storms within him contained any longer and needs a place to release them. He finally offers up his screams to the sky above the mountains that surround him, until one day, the echo of a distant voice reaches him like a memory tucked deep in the heart of the Rockies, near the rush of a river...

This play for young audiences aged 8 and up deftly explores themes of self-expression, emotion, and communication in an artistic and immersive form that blends text, rhythm and imagination. Le Criard has been presented in French across Quebec and in Yukon; it has been translated and performed in Italian, and in English in Vancouver. L’UniThéâtre and Théâtre du Gros Mécano are adapting the show to give it a franco-albertain twist, both to ground the play in the province’s geographical landscape and to make it feel like home.
