Amid the chaos at Rond-point Victoire in Kinshasa, the fates of four unhoused characters collide. Pasi, a university graduate turned street vendor, remains true to his faith despite the exclusion he’s faced. Tembe, a shoe-shiner who has been disillusioned by war and poverty, questions God’s existence. Bobo Star, a sharp-eyed and sarcastic street performer, searches for the meaning of life. Jamuskette, a young woman scarred by the traumas of her childhood, fights to preserve her dignity.
Through their humorous, emotional, and thought-provoking dialogue, these characters try to pinpoint the cause of human suffering: God, society, or humanity itself? As each character’s journey of violence, poverty, and exclusion is revealed, Qui est coupable ? raises up the marginalized voices of the unhoused and invites the audience to reflect on themes of collective responsibility, justice, faith, and solidarity.
